How to Pick the Best Dog Food for your Bernedoodle

After many years of breeding I have gone the rounds with every option out there as far as what to feed my dogs. It’s extra important as a breeder to know everything about canine nutrition. There are so many opinions out there, and nutrition is absolutely vital and critical for pregnant mothers. So this information I am sharing comes from my true desire to see your dog and you, choose the option that best fits your lifestyle and gives your dog the best nutrients in their food.
#1 – What they don’t tell you about raw feeding your little dog vs. kibble
– I have done raw, completely raw with 7 little dogs. What I found was, it’s extremely difficult to really get them a balanced nutrition with homemade recipes and raw. It’s difficult to get firm poops when trying to get balanced nutrition with raw feeding. And here’s what they don’t tell you about RAW – your dog can highly benefit from a good kibble. Yes, I hate that I even just typed those words. I am a holistic mama, with my Kids and my fur babies. So Raw looked like the best option for my Bernedoodles. But let me tell you, kibble expands and sucks water out of their body, but it also stays… in their body for a long time. Real nutrition, real meat, raw eggs, and shell, it goes right through and they digest it quickly. This means: your Bernedoodle pup has a slow feeding mechanism in the kibble that supports their playful youth and their growing musculoskeletal system and other important body systems. They are also at an increased risk of developing hypoglycemia because new protein types can give them diarrhea, which dehydrates them, so feeding solely raw, you just doubled the hypo factor in their life. Not great. That’s why I don’t recommend a 100% raw diet.
What should I feed my Bernedoodle dog?

If your family has chicken, set some aside for them , for a 5 lb yorkie, I’d give them 1/8 cup of shredded chicken with no seasonings or spices and top their kibble with it. If you happen to have a meal where there is nothing unseasoned, get out your bag of pawtree freeze dried, and crumble it over their food.
